The love of our Heavenly Father

I have learned this past weekend of the love our Heavenly Father has for us. Jeremey and Mandy were married on Friday afternoon at the Quail building. It was a beautiful ceremony. Mandy was able to wear my wedding dress, after some minor alterations. She looked beautiful. Side note: there was a huge dragon fly that was circling around Jeremey and Mandy and Pres. Jones, it was gigantic. Melissa is pregnant with Jessie. She told me this on Saturday morning while we were at moms. I cried the whole way home. Kevin and Beth are also pregnant. Kevin called Brian on Sunday to tell him the big news. I had a meltdown about it. And to make it worse Brian just made fun of me while I was crying. I asked him later why he did that, he told me that he was not sure what to do, and was uncomfortable, and he was ‘trying’ to make me laugh. I was sure to tell him that ‘trying’ to make me laugh by making fun of me only makes it worse. I told him that if he is uncomfortable and not sure what to do, to do nothing. I will stop crying much quicker. He voiced understanding which made me feel better :) Side note: Kevin told Brian that if Beth had a wiener that she would have had a boner for the last week! Too funny Amanda and Travis are NOT Pregnant – currently :), when I left mom’s house on Tuesday afternoon she walked me out to my car, she gave me a big hug and told me that she and Travis are praying for me. She told me not to worry, and that it will happen for me, and that there are special spirits waiting on the other side for the right moment to come to us, she said that she did Initiatory work in the Temple this morning, and thought of me durring it, she said that I should go. She also said that Brian and I will be really good parents, fun ones too. I just cried while she hugged me. This is where it hit me that my Father in Heaven does love me and knows what I need to hear, I am so grateful for the gospel in my life and for siblings that know how to follow the spirit, so that I can know of Heavenly Father’s Love.

Quite the Party Planner!

Dear Diary, Well last week I volunteered to host a Twilight Saga party at my house! I am super excited about it! We are having dinner and watching New Moon. I have all these ideas about decorations and the menu :) We are having four cheese raviolis, with simple marinara sauce, and a green salad for dinner. For refreshments we are having, Wolf Pack Puppy chow (Chex Muddy Buddies), red velvet cupcakes with forks stuck in the top :), suckers that are heart shaped...and some other shapes...they are going to be flavored with Cinnamon - Jake's heat, and Crem de Menth - for Edwards cool, and then just cherry...because it is a popular flavor, and then we are having Jakob (Hershey) Hugs and Edward (Hershey) Kisses, and I have some red colored bottled drinks, I am gonna make my own labels for them, I got a 24 pack of water for $3, 10 red Jones Sodas for $0.70 each, and 8 red/pink SoBe's for $0.49 each I am super proud of myself! I have been looking on all sorts of websites for different decoration ideas for this party. One site suggested that you decorate in all red, black and white/grey. My favorite colors. They also suggested that you use a ton of candles, and some hurricanes/vases that are pretty plain, but then you can put fruit in them or flowers or candles...I started looking for some plain vases, and most places they are like $20 and up, but then I went to Wal-Mart (my favorite store) and found similar ones for $3-5, but then I went to the Dollar Store, and they had some there too!!! I got 5 vases, 3 that are the same and then 2 more that are slightly smaller. I was so excited! Also at Walmart, they had plastic fruit, that actually looks pretty real, I think I am going to get some of that to decorate with...then I can use it again in the future. Where the drinks go, one site had just a picture frame with Thirsty? printed out in Fangish font and stuck in a frame. I always get way into themes :) We are going to be headed up to Idaho over Labor day weekend this year, for Teke's Baptism and Tava Jean's blessing. (different name huh?) I told my Mother-in-law that I am making the suckers for my twilight party, so she asked if I could make some to take out to Heather and Jeremy's for the party after the baptism and blessing. She wants at least 100 suckers. but I am not worried, they are so easy to make...just have to have molds that work :) She told me she has a ton of different flavorings too! I need to go over there and steal some!

Favorite Little Women Quotes

Chapter 1 "I know that they will remember all that I have said to them, that they will be loving children to you, will do their duty faithfully, fight their bosom enemies bravely, and conquer themselves so beautifully, that when I come back to them I may be fonder and prouder than ever of my little women." Page12 "Let us do it," said Meg thoughtfully. "It is only another name for us trying to be good, and the story may help us; for though we do want to be good, it is hard work, and we forget, and dont do our best. Page13 Chapter 3 "I dont beleive fine young ladies enjoy themselves a bit more that we do, in spite of our burned hair, old gowns, one glove apeice, and tight slippers that sprain our ankles when we are silly enough to wear them." and I think Jo was quite right. Page38 Sadly I only read thru chapter 3. Oh well, I will probably continue reading Little Women when I am older ;) Shay

First Time Book Club-er

Hello there- I have just joined a Book Club that some ladies from church have started. I have decided to blog my thoughts and insights (if any) into the books that we are reading. With the Book Club we will be reading 1 book per month and meeting up on the 4th Wednesday of the month (or when we can get together) to chit-chat about the book and other unrelated topics :) The Book Club has chosen Little Women by Louisa May Alcott as their next read. I have read the abridged children's version when I was a child, and I have seen the movie as well. I am excited to start reading! Shay

Lemon Bars

I have decided to also blog about my cooking adventures...or lack there of. I am always wanting to try out new recipies, and so I thought I would document the experience a little. First off is Lemon Bars, courtesy of Paula Deen. Something familiar and not too daring...but not from a box either, like dinner will be tonight. We bake the crust seperately...... and then add the filling and bake again... and after a little waiting....Lemmon Bars!!! Still looks yummy even though a plate fell into them :( Shay Recipie: Lemon Bars Recipe courtesy Paula Deen Ingredients Crust: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup confectioners' sugar, plus more for dusting Pinch salt 2 sticks butter, at room temperature, plus more for greasing Filling: 4 eggs 2 cups granulated sugar 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour 6 tablespoons fresh lemon juice Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9 by 13 by 2-inch pan. Make the crust by combining the flour, confectioners' sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the butter to make a crumbly mixture. Press the mixture into the prepared pan. You may need to dip your fingers into a little flour or confectioners' sugar to keep the dough from sticking to your fingers. Bake for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, to make the filling, mix the eggs, granulated sugar, flour, and lemon juice. Pour this over the baked crust and bake for 25 minutes longer. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired, when the bars are done.
